Learning About Medical Equipment and Supplies

Hello, my name is Sydney Belaqua. Welcome to my website about medical equipment and supplies. When my mom had her stomach removed last year, the living room became a storage lock for medical equipment and supplies. These items helped my mom make a swift recovery without too much discomfort or delay. Throughout this experience, I set out to learn about how the medical equipment and supplies work and help my loved one heal. I created this site to share this knowledge with other people in a similar situation. Please feel free to visit my site anytime you want to learn more.

How Digital X-Rays Make Diagnosing And Treatment Easier

by Luke Gregory

Technology has advanced enough so that medical providers are now using digital x-ray machines to obtain images, making the results readily available. Digital images are easier to share, can be saved on discs for transportation, or sent through the internet if necessary for immediate review. When digital imaging is done, the provider can look at the images within a few minutes. It is then possible to consult with peers by sharing images. If there were previous images taken of the same area, the ability to contrast and compare digital images leads to better diagnosis and treatment.

Access to Images

When digital x-ray machines are used, or an MRI is done to investigate what is going on, the images are digitally added to the medical record. Images are available within a few minutes of the images being taken. This makes it easy for a specialist to look at the images fast in order to diagnose what is happening with the patient. If a provider does not have access to the images within the health care record, a disc can be made instead. With digital imaging, the images are easy to add to a disc to make it simple to transport images to any provider outside of the network.

Review of Images on the Computer

Once a disc is obtained, the images taken from a digital x-ray machine are easy to view on almost any computer. The disc will include simple software to open the images and make it possible to see every picture taken on that day. For specialists, this makes it possible to review x-ray images on the computer screen while a patient is in the office for a consultation. If they have questions about the report written by the provider who reviewed the images, they can take a closer look at the images on their own.

Digital x-rays provide an immediate, clear image of what is going on with the patient. Traditional x-rays are not as easy to read, as they are not as clear. With a traditional x-ray, the images have to be processed. Films have to be made and it becomes cumbersome to share the images with anyone else. Digital x-ray machines have made it possible to have a set of images ready for any new provider within minutes. Treatment and diagnosing the issue becomes much easier when providers have access to the x-rays they need to see what's going on.
